Press Releases [June 28 2007, 0 Comments]
Press releases are one of these best marketing tools you can use, as you can attract a lot of interest in your product without breaking the bank. The key to writing a good press release is to make it more informative and less like an ad. The more like an ad it is, the less interest the producer or editor will have in writing about your product/company.

A commonly forgotten tip when promoting your site with a pay-per-click search engine is that you create a seperate webpage for those clickers for the exact information they have clicked on.

For instance, if you click on a link that says "Make Money Now", you would expect to see content on how to make money right now. You, as with anyone, would be disappointed that the site did not contain the proper subject and would be less likely to stay on the site if the site was really pushing you to buy something.

Therefore, the common practice should be that you develop a page based on the specific keywords as opposed to using your businesses default webpage.

A Guide to Website Promotion [April 05 2007, 0 Comments]
On April 12th, 2007 dotServing will be putting on a Lunch & Learn with the subject being A Guide to Website Promotion for the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce. If your a member you can email the chamber or give them a call to ensure you have a seat! There is no cost involved!

Some of the presentation material will be posted on the blog for those unable to attend or off Island viewers.

On Thursday, the 22nd of February I attended a Chamber of Commerce Mixer put on by the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce. It was rather interesting as it was the first networking event I have taken in with dotServing and certainly represents our new efforts to be known in the community we live in. In the past we have heard from many residents that we host a lot of the websites they visit on a day to day basis and thank us for being around as the sites always load quickly with minimal downtime, which is what we are known for.

A friend of mine, once said, "You host all of Charlottetown!", I replied saying no we don't, least not yet! But that is our goal. To hold the majority of the market share of the market on Prince Edward Island. Watch out!

But back to the Chamber mixer! It was fun, exciting and a good networking event. I made a lot of contacts and heard from a lot of people and became more familiar with what the local companies do and now I can't wait for the new one. It was exciting and was the only one wearing the new member pin, though there was other new members there!
