Server 3 Move and DNS IP Changes [November 19 2007, 0 Comments]
The move of server 3 to its new server appears to have gone good. It did take a bit longer then expected due to a couple bigger sites. None the less, the move was completed yesterday and all appears to be going well.

All resellers on server 3 need to update their IP addresses that they use for their domains.

The following are the 2 dns server IPs:
NS1: 72.55.185.41
NS2: 64.15.141.21

Server 3 Move Dates [November 11 2007, 0 Comments]
On Saturday, November 17th at 00:01 EST we will be completing the move of all sites on Server 3 to its new server. We are expecting customers to notice a major difference, just as other customers noticed when they had received their server upgrades.

All users on server 3 will be affected. Also note, as previously mentioned it is extremely important you are using the *.dotserving name servers as mentioned in this entry.

Server 3 Replacement [November 11 2007, 0 Comments]
We will be upgrading server 3 within the next week. The server is now online and is going through our system hardening (securing it/setting up firewalls, etc) as well as extensive testing. We will be making the move near the end of the week.

The system specs for the new server are:
Core 2 Duo 2.4
2048MB RAM
2x320gig SATA2 Hard Drives
Centos 5
cPanel+Fantastico

This should certainly up the processing power of server 3.

Server 3 | Ironic [October 01 2007, 0 Comments]
I was sitting here considering the possibility of upgrading server 3. I started writing an email to the datacenter and got a response from my email client saying connection could not be established.

Immediately after this, a client sends me a message over MSN saying Server 3 is down. Two seconds later an email comes in.

Ironic how I was just sending an email to the DC about an upgrade when the server fails.

But it's up again, total downtime was approx 4 minutes. I'll post an update about the possibility of upgrading server 3 in the days to come.

Old Servers Turned Off [September 29 2007, 0 Comments]
I have turned off all of the old servers. If your site is now not working, that would mean you are using old DNS records, or your DNS IP's were not updated.

Please ensure that they are updated and contact support.

Server 4 Move DNS Updates [September 26 2007, 2 Comments]
The move of server 4 has been completed and things appear to be going good on it as we've observed for the last day.

Here is the IP information resellers need to use and update their name servers to point to:

NS1: 74.86.113.11
NS2: 74.86.115.239

Server 4 Move Delayed 24 hours. [September 24 2007, 0 Comments]
We are delaying the move of server 4 until tonight. We came across some issues therefore we have decided to play it safe and wait till tonight so websites will not be affected during the day.

Server 2 Updates [September 23 2007, 0 Comments]
The move of server 2 has been completed. Some users did experience some MySQL issues where their whole databases weren't moved over. We have corrected this by doing this manually. If you are experiencing issues, please open a ticket with us immediately!

For all resellers, please note the following IP changes.
Your NS1 name server IP should be: 74.86.115.194
Your NS2 name server IP should be: 74.86.115.231

Failure to complete this change, will result in possible extended downtime.

Important DNS Updates for All Customers [September 21 2007, 0 Comments]
All clients should now be using the *.dotserving.com name servers, email of this move was sent out 8 months ago.

If you are using the *.chronichosting.com name servers, your site will eventually go down as we are no longer using the chronichosting.com name.

If your using:
server1.chronichosting.com -- change it to server1.dotserving.com

server1b.chronichosting.com -- change it to server1b.dotserving.com

server2.chronichosting.com -- change it to server2.dotserving.com

server2b.chronichosting.com -- change it to server2b.dotserving.com

server3.chronichosting.com -- change it to server3.dotserving.com

server3b.chronichosting.com -- change it to server3b.dotserving.com

server4.chronichosting.com -- change it to server4.dotserving.com

server4b.chronichosting.com -- change it to server4b.dotserving.com

server5.chronichosting.com -- change it to server5.dotserving.com

server5b.chronichosting.com -- change it to server5b.dotserving.com

For all resellers on server 1, it is important that you change your DNS servers for your domain name.

Failure to do so will lead to downtime.

Your NS1 should be 74.86.115.209
Your NS2 should be 74.86.115.240

All resellers will need to contact their registrar for this to take place.

Server 2 Move [September 21 2007, 0 Comments]
We are beginning to get ready for the move of server 2 to its new server. The move of server 1 has gone good and the clients are still noticing a massive difference in speed. We project the move of server 2 will go better then server 1 as clients will see a bigger performance boost.

Server 1 Move Update [September 18 2007, 0 Comments]
The move of server 1 has been completed. It has been some time since the move and so far everything is performing smoothly and fast! The server is certainly performing up to par and users should see an increase in speed to their websites.

If there are outstanding issues, please use our support center and contact us.

The old server 1 (At ThePlanet) will remain on for the next few days. We have already changed the domain name servers for server 1 to point to the new server. Therefore in approx. 24 hours everything will be completely dependent on the new server and the old server can be shut off.

The old server will be formatted a couple days before the end of the month, therefore it is important that if clients are experiencing issues that they contact us immediately.

3 Upcoming Server Upgrades [September 09 2007, 0 Comments]
This coming week, we will be performing upgrades to servers 1, 2, and 4. The upgrades were planned to take place late in October, 2007. However due to recent issues with ThePlanet we have decided to proceed with them upgrades earlier.

We will be upgrading each server to:
Intel Xeon 3060-Dual Core [2.4GHz]
4 GB DDR2 Ram
2x250 GB Western Digital HDD
CentOS with cPanel & Fantastico.

All affected users will notice a significant increase in performance. We hope to maintain minimal downtime during these upgrades.

All IP addresses on the affected servers will change. We will be switching to Softlayer's Data center, also located in Texas. More information will be posted soon.

Server Move Details [September 12 2007, 0 Comments]
As previously mentioned we are upgrading three of our servers. The following is a list of the server move dates:

Server 1: September 16th at 00:00 Central.
Server 2: September 22nd at 00:00 Central.
Server 4: September 24nd at 00:00 Central.

Approx 30 minutes before the move takes place, we will be shutting down FTP Access to all accounts on the affected servers.

If you are unsure of which server you are on, check your DNS settings of your domain.

Server1.dotserving.com = Server 1.
Server1b.dotserving.com = Server 1.

Server2.dotserving.com = Server 2.
Server2b.dotserving.com = Server 2.

Server4.dotserving.com = Server 4.
Server4b.dotserving.com = Server 4.

Customers will notice a major performance increase upon being moved.

Reseller customers will be required to update their DNS servers within 24-48 hours after the move is complete.

PHP5 Upgrade Details [August 22 2007, 0 Comments]
On Monday, August 27th we will be upgrading all servers from PHP4 to PHP5. As previously announced, this will only affect PHP based sites that are using older PHP coding. PHP.net previously announced that support for PHP4 will be non-existant after January 1st of the 2008 year.
Most sites will not notice any difference, however there may be a few minutes of downtime of our Apache Web Server.

Changes To Montreal Bandwidth [August 16 2007, 0 Comments]
Our Montreal bandwidth limits have been upped from 7 Gbps to 9 Gbps. A new Videotron (Level3) connection and a new TorIX connection has also been added.

Thankfully, due to the high capacity fibre that is installed, the previous announcement regarding VideoTron's bandwidth limits does not affect Fibre customers!

9 Gbps of bandwidth is a lot, and by using a central hub like Montreal, it ensures that all operations will maintain functional even if one of the backbone providers go down!
